MARIETTA - A Georgia state patrol trooper who was gunned down earlier this week will be laid to rest in Marietta today.

Police officers from across the country are expected to attend the funeral Friday of Trooper Chadwick LeCroy, who was fatally shot Monday.

A horse-drawn caisson will bring the slain trooper's body from a funeral home to a service at the Roswell Street Baptist Church. Afterward, the procession will held to the Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery for burial.

Prosecutors said Gregory Favors was driving in Atlanta when LeCroy tried to make a routine traffic stop. Favors fled from the officer, then crashed his car on an embankment. Authorities said Favors shot LeCroy in the neck when the trooper approached the car.

Favors is charged with murder.
