Flowery Branch elects Miller as new mayor

FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch has a new mayor.

According to city officials, James "Mike" Miller won the election with 410 votes. Miller's opponent, Mike Pitts, received 143 votes.

Miller is a former city councilman who resigned the post in September to run for mayor. He has been acting as mayor since former Mayor Diane Hirling's resignation.

Miller will be sworn in at the Nov. 4 city council meeting at 6 p.m.
