WINDER - A Barrow County man, Anthony Perry, 22, could spend up to a year in jail in connection with the death of a teenager at an after-prom party almost three years ago.

Perry is accused of discouraging party-goers from calling 9-1-1 after Leland Martin, Jr., 17, passed out after drinking too much at the party at a Barrow County home. Authorities have testified Martin's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit. Martin reportedly was drunk and fighting, and witnesses say he vomited before being subdued and placed on a couch in the home.

Even so, his father, Leland Martin, Sr. told Channel 2 News that his son did not have to die.

"I just think somebody should've called 9-1-1 or just took him to a hospital...called me or his brother...somebody."

Two others involved in the case, including Perry's stepmother, have entered guilty pleas for their role in the teen's death
