UNDATED - Another candidate has announced for the congressional seat Nathan Deal is vacating.

Eugene Moon of Gainesville says he plans to run for Congress as a member of the newly formed Georgia Conservative Party (GCP) and will make his official announcement next Thursday at a gathering from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at BLONDE Italian restaurant in downtown Gainesville.

Moon is a lifelong resident of Gainesville. He is in his 22nd year of employment by The Harris Products Group, a Lincoln Electric Company, as the marketing manager for their retail division. He is married to Rose Moon and they have three daughters Savannah, Abigail, and Jade. The Moons are members of Lanier Hills Church.

GEORGIA CONSERVATIVE PARTY

The party was formed a week ago during a meeting at the Barbecue Street Restaurant in Cartersville.

One of the organizers, David Winship, said, "It doesn't matter whether it's Town Council or the U.S. Senate, it's absolutely critical that we have conservative voices who can lead and legislate in a way that reflects Conservative Principles, and I think tonight is a great start."

Winship said a number of people who were at the meeting said that they are upset with the current parties, but had not seen anything they considered a viable alternative.
