Highlights include 7 of 7 high schools and 5 of 6 middle schools, 16 of 20 elementary schools making AYP, according to Superintendent Will Schofield.
Additionally, the District will make AYP, Schofield said.
Under current "No Child Left Behind" requirements, Hall County Schools have the potential to have almost 1,200 indicators which must be met. Hall County Students met standards in all but 9, which is 99.3 percent of potential measured indicators Special Education continues to be the subgroup that provided the most challenge.
At the elementary school level, three schools will not meet requirements in Special Education Mathematics. Approximately five special education students (one at Lanier Elementary, two at Chestnut Mountain Elementary, and two at Flowery Branch Elementary) proved to be the difference in AYP for those schools. Sugar Hill Elementary did not meet standards in four areas of mathematics (All Students, Hispanic, White, and Economically Disadvantaged). At South Hall Middle School, Special Education and English Language Learners did not meet the standard in Reading/Language Arts.
"While our goal is to make AYP in 100% of our schools, we will continue to stress the primary goal of rigorous opportunities for all, including our most able learners," Schofield said.
