GAINESVILLE - By early afternoon, only a few minor problems had been reported to elections officials in Hall County - and most of them had been quickly resolved.

Some were with machines, said Interim Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee-Hunter, who added that technicians were quickly dispatched with replacement machines. The malfunctioning ones were brought back to the elections office and repaired, if possible, for use as replacements at other precincts.

There have been some "people" problems, as you might expect, especially with people showing up at the wrong place or discovering their names were not on the voter rolls. Sosebee-Hunter said every effort is being made in such cases to keep from having to use "provisional" ballots.

She said that at early afternoon, short lines were being reported at most places following lengthy waits early this morning.
