A man described as a former employee allegedly walked into a Red Lobster restaurant with a gun under his shirt, and it later fired while still in his clothing.

No one was injured in the incident Saturday, and Athens-Clarke County police charged Arlen Ellison with two counts of aggravated assault. Police Capt. James Williams said the gun was fired in the direction of two employees who were standing behind a reception desk.

Williams didn't confirm a motive for the shooting, but a server at the restaurant who wished to remain anonymous said Ellison was a former employee of the restaurant. Other employees had heard that Ellison's target was a restaurant manager on duty at the time, the server said.

According to the state Department of Corrections Web site, Ellison served about two years in prison on convictions of first degree forgery and burglary charges in Elbert County. He was released in 2003.

___

HASH(0x286816c)
