GAINESVILLE - Mamie Coker, Health Services Coordinator for the Hall County School System, has successfully completed the requirements for the National Board of Certification for School Nurses (NBCSN).

School officials say certification in school nursing represents a national standard of preparation, knowledge, and practice.

Coker is the first nurse in Hall County to become certified. Currently, only 36 school nurses across the state of Georgia have achieved national board certification.

Coker oversees the school nurse program with 28 nurses and 22,000 students in 32 schools.
