PEACHTREE CITY - Some street flooding was reported in the Gainesville area shortly before noon Friday, following several hours of torrential rains.

Green Street from the post office to the civic center was being affected as was a section of Memorial Park Road.

By noon Friday, nearly 1.5 inches of rain had fallen in Gainesville since midnight. At times, it was coming down at the rate of about .40 inch per hour.

Flood warnings were issued about 9:00 Friday morning for Lumpkin, White and several other northeast Georgia counties.

Warnings were also issued for Pickens, Gilmer, and Fannin counties. Several inches of rain were forecast in the counties in a short period of time, creating the possibility of flooding.
