Gainesville guard unit shipping out next week

GAINESVILLE - Members of a Gainesville National Guard unit, expected to deploy to Iraq next year, will leave home next week to begin training for the war zone.
The 150 Gainesville-based guardsmen are part of the Georgia guard's 48th Brigrade and began the initial stages of preparation for activation ten days ago.
About 4,000 soldiers 48th Brigade are being called up.
