Deal optimistic about resolving poultry dispute with Russia

GAINESVILLE - 9th District Congressman Nathan Deal thinks the U.S. can resolve a dispute with Russia over poultry exports from this country.

Russia announced Friday it was embargoing the import of American poultry in hopes of forcing U.S. companies to report preservatives and antibiotics used in the poultry industry.

"They are trying...to generate a domestic poultry industry," Deal said. "I think we can resolve this."

Deal commented Saturday during an appearance before the Conservative Forum in Gainesville.
