Frederick Jackson Allen

Obituary Date: Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Frederick Jackson Allen, 64, passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL on January 1, 2019.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Fred was the son of the late Daniel Jackson Allen and Lee Barclay Patterson Allen.

Fred was a fourth-generation funeral director for his family business, H. M. Patterson & Son Funeral Homes in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a devoted family man, man of faith, outdoorsman, joke-maker, and conversationalist with a dry wit who had never met a stranger. Fred loved to be on the water, especially with a fishing rod in his hands. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, church member and dear friend to all who knew him. He was a member of Parkview Church. Fred was always the first to help others. He made sure to make everyone he spoke to feel welcomed and special no matter who they were, and he always made sure to consider others before himself.

Fred is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Sarah Beth, son Jackson, and his siblings; twin brother Dan and his wife Julie Allen, Hugh Allen, Jack and Julie Allen, Laurell and Chuck Millirons, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 o’clock at Parkview Church, 5435 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his name to The Mayo Clinic- Pancreatic Cancer Research or the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation. Donation forms will be available at the celebration of life or online, if requested.

The family would like to thank any and all medical professionals who provided assistance throughout his kidney transplant and subsequent battle with cancer. The Allen family has been greatly impacted by organ donations and would appreciate for all to carefully consider becoming an organ donor.
