James Edward “Bobby” Baker

James Edward “Bobby” Baker, age 79 of Maysville, GA passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Baker was born on May 10, 1939 in Homer, GA to the late Arvil Henry and Core Lee Watkins Baker. He was retired from the GA DOT State Highway Department. Mr. Baker was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Baker, Lonnie Baker, W.C. Baker, Calvin Baker, Horace Baker, Modelle Sorrows, Shirley Baker and Jean Richey.

Survivors include son, Bobby Shane Baker, Ashville, NC; daughters, Donna Jean Baker, Homer, Melinda Ann Bowyer, Gainesville; brother, Winlyn Baker, Gainesville; grandkids, Elizabeth Solomon, Emily Parr, Christopher Bowyer, Joshua Bowyer, David Bowyer; great-grandchildren, Claira Solomon, Carlee Sailers, Avery Garner; and girlfriend, Nancy Rebecca Haynes, Commerce.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gillsville, GA. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
