Barbara Ann Kelly

Obituary Date: Sunday, October 14, 2018

McDonald and Son Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Barbara Ann Kelly, age 78 of Cumming, Georgia. Mrs. Kelly passed away on October 14, 2018.

Mrs. Kelly was born in a small southern town on June 12, 1940. In her early years of life, she witnessed the struggles and trials of growing up poor.  Barbara would take every advantage she had to go visit her Grandparents in Greenville, Alabama where as a young lady she decided that she was destine to find a way to break out of the chains of poverty and make something of herself. She packed up her life and moved to Florida where she met her best friend, traveling partner, and husband of many precious years, William Kelly. From Florida, Barbara and William traveled to and lived in many areas including Iran and South Africa.

Mrs. Kelly was a very intelligent person and always kept herself busy with figuring out puzzles or diving into one of her favorite novels. Her intelligence did not stop here. She was always showing off her extreme knowledge of football, sometimes even making the guys jealous of her understanding of the game. Although she left Alabama, Tuscaloosa always held a special place in her heart and on any giving Saturday in the Fall, she could be found wearing Crimson and yelling “Roll Tide”.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Kelly. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Teresa (Brian) Lubeck, of Cumming; Son and daughter in law, Bill (Jennifer) Kelly of Howell, NJ; and Grandchildren, Evan, Duncan, Elizabeth, Alexander, and Amber.

It was Mrs. Kellys final wishes to be cremated and no public services are being held at this time. McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory.   150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA.
