Hans Hinreiner

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Hans Hinreiner, age 89, of Hoschton, Georgia, a previous resident of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away on Saturday, April, 14, 2018.  Hans was born on January 9, 1929 in Heilbronn, Germany and is preceded in death by parents, Berta and Xaver Hinreiner. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Gaines Hinreiner, also, daughter, Angelika Baumgart and husband Guenter Kurschatke of Bad Rappenau, Germany, daughter, Karin Venhofen and husband Ronny Venhofen of Bad Rappenau, Germany, granddaughter, Simone Wolff and husband Peter Wolff of Frankfurt, Germany, stepson, Roger D. Gaines (deceased) and wife Alfreda D. Gaines (deceased) of Kodak, TN, stepson, Stephen H. Gaines and wife Brigid F. Gaines of Dallas, GA, stepson Robert B. Gaines and wife Regina A. Gaines of Annapolis, MD, stepdaughter, Lois G. Hamilton and husband William D. Hamilton (deceased) of Johns Creek, GA, 10 step-grandchildren and 7 step-greatgrandchildren.


Hans was 16 years old at the end of WWII when he then attended technical school to become an electrical engineer.  His profession required travel throughout Europe and the United States.  His first job in the U.S. was for the installation of an elevator in a replica of an oil derrick at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX.  Over the years he completed many more North American projects at amusement parks in Tennessee, California, Ohio, North Carolina and Canada.  In 1973 he was hired by Taft Broadcasting and immigrated to the U.S. and became a permanent resident.  After the completion of the Eiffel Tower project at Kings Island in Cincinnati, OH he relocated to Doswell, VA to complete the Eiffel Tower project at Kings Dominion where he continued working for 20 years and retired in 1993. He then began Technical Engineering Inc, a consulting company where he worked for another decade. He thoroughly loved his work. Hans was a member of the Deutscher Sportclub in Richmond, Virginia.


A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 29, with the family receiving friends at 3:30 pm and the service following at 4:00 pm at the North East Georgia Medical Center Chapel, Braselton, GA.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, www.nghs.com/make-a-donation, 770-219-8099
