Mary Frances Hellams Miller

Mary Frances Hellams Miller, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017. She was born in Laurens Co., S.C. on October 3, 1924. Mary Frances Hellams Miller was the daughter of Ralph A. and Nancy J. Hellams of Gray Court, S.C. She graduated from UAB Nursing School in 1950. She spent most of her nursing career at the Birmingham V.A. Hospital in Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William (Bill) Miller. She is survived by one brother, Dr. James W. Hellams and one sister, Martha Hellams Willis. She is also survived by three children, Nancy Kaye Freeman of Flowery Branch, Ga., William Y. Pate, III of Roswell, Ga. and Ralph A. Pate of Stillwater, OK., two step-children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 1604 Owltown Road, Blairsville, Ga. 30512 with Dr. Winfred Pitts officiating. Any memorial donations can be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church in memory of Mary Frances Hellams Miller.
