Benjamin Franklin Barnes

Benjamin Franklin Barnes, age 77 of Maysville, passed away on November 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Interment will follow at Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3664 Lebanon Church Road, Gillsville, Georgia 30543. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Benjamin was born on February 12, 1940 in Brookton, Georgia to the late Fred Joseph Barnes and the late Fannie Mae Hill Barnes. Benjamin married his school sweetheart, Jean Carney. They met in the third grade. Benjamin was an avid family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden.  Benjamin worked for the Hall County Corrections Department as a corrections officer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Joan Carney Barnes; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Jackie Barnes; son Glenn Barnes; 6 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
