Mrs. Edith Barnes Queen, age 104, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Queen; parents, Joe and Carrie Wood Barnes; brothers, Rev. Paul Barnes, and Glen Barnes; sisters, Azalee Holcomb, and Lillian Bennett. Mrs. Queen is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Queen Brown and husband, Colan Brown, Deland, FL; sons, Wade and Bobbie Queen, Sugar Hill, GA, and Jackie and Emily Queen, Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren, Linda Purcell, Judy and Bill Cox, Tony and Kim Brown, Tim Brown, Allen and Heather Queen, Julie Queen, Jimmy and Cindy Queen, Steve and Heather Queen; twelve great grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Queen was born October 16, 1912 in Forsyth County and was retired from Bona Allen Company. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Sugar Hill, a member of the Golden Wing Club, member of Baptist Women, and also senior of the year. She was very involved in her church and ministered to a lot of people and always helping someone. She was an avid gardener and loved to work with her flowers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Davidson, Rev. Charles Pirkle and the family officiating. Interment will follow at Haw Creek Baptist Church in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
