Clyde Thomason

Clyde Thomason SMSgt, USAF, Retired, age 86 of Murrayville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. 

Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1PM in Sawnee View Cemetery in Cumming, Georgia with Dr. Steve Winter officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Mr. Clyde Thomason was born on February 24, 1931 in Ravenna, Ohio, son of late Reynold Thomason and Bessie Wallin Thomason.

He was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Clyde retired from the US Air Force with 22 years of service. He served with the 19^th Bombardment Wing, 20^th Air Force during the Korean War, later serving as First Sergeant the 776 Troop Carrier Squadron; as a member of the USAF Mission to Paraguay; Tactical Instructor. Service as the NCOIC of the Directorate of Communications-Electronics, 29^th Air Division, Air Defense Command during the Vietnam War. He later retired from Brenau University with 24 years of service as Director of the Maintenance Department.

Clyde is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Claudia Thomason of Sugar Hill; daughter, Susan Proctor of Sautee-Nacoochee; daughter, Carol Martin of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Sandra Freeman of Ellijay, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several beloved pets. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue Freeman.
