Robert Travis Biccum

Robert Travis Biccum “Bob”, age 83, of Cumming, GA died Friday, July 7, 2017 with his wife and children at his side.

He was born November 6, 1933 in Geneva, NY to the late Robert Walter & Helen Lois Biccum.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Audrey Ann Biccum, son Bryan (Maryanne), son Austin, daughter, Sabrina (John), and five grandchildren – Hudson, Eliza, Faith Anne, Estella and Navia Ann.  He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Biccum Purvis and numerous nieces and nephews.

During his school years his family relocated from New York to Atlanta. Bob graduated from North Fulton High School and received his engineering degree from Georgia Tech.  He was drafted into the US Army to serve stateside where he worked as a cryptographic equipment repairman.  He began his career as an engineer before joining the US Department of Energy where he worked for more than 25 years.

Bob had a passion for helping others and spent many of his lunch breaks volunteering at the Center for the Visually Impaired in Atlanta.
He was an active member of Decatur First Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church of Cumming.  A lover of music, he sang in the choir at both churches and sang with the Cleveland Civic Chorus (OH), Decatur Civic Chorus and in keeping with his fond love of barbershop style music, the North Georgia Barbershop Singers.

His celebration of life will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Cumming, 1597 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040. 

 A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Memory Gardens (3000 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084).
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Goodwill of North Georgia (www.goodwillng.org), the Center for the Visually Impaired (www.cviga.org) or the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
