Denis Joseph Van Orman, Jr

Denis Joseph Van Orman, Jr., 46, of Demorest, Georgia, formerly of Altoona, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 5th, 2017. 

Born in Altoona, PA on July 16th, 1970, he was the son of the late Denis Joseph Van Orman, Sr., also of Altoona, and Linda Nelson Densmore, a resident of Clarkesville, Georgia. 

As a young man, Denis Van Orman (PFC) served his country proudly in the United States Army both stateside and abroad.  After military service, Denis enjoyed his occupation of land surveying. 

Denis had many hobbies including photography, the outdoors, music, physical fitness, motorcycles, playing his guitars, watching his beloved Steelers, and classic muscle cars. Time spent with friends, family, and most of all, his son, was of utmost importance to him.  His life was marked by his genuine compassion and generosity for others, as well as the love he had for his family, friends, and country. He was also a Christian and had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Mr. Van Orman was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Elizabeth Van Orman; his maternal grandfather, Charles Nelson; and his father, Denis Joseph Van Orman, Sr.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Linda and Alan Densmore of Clarkesville, Georgia; his son, Deven Joseph Van Orman of Bellwood, Pennsylvania; his brothers and sister-in-laws, Curt and Connie Van Orman also of Clarkesville and Chad and Amy Van Orman of Tifton, Georgia; his former wife, Shelli Ricketts Van Orman; his nephews, Aiden, Everett, Keller and Ethan Van Orman; his nieces, Anna and Ava Van Orman; his maternal grandmother, Clara Nelson; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at The Stevens Mortuary, at 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. Pastor David Waite will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Altoona, PA.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at The Stevens Mortuary.
