Billy Joe Murphy

Mr. Billy Joe Murphy, 91, of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Born on September 29, 1925 in Winder, GA, he was the son of the late James Melvin Murphy and Belle Cronic Murphy. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Murphy and wife, Dayron Hanes Murphy; and his niece Becky’s husband, Gary.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his brother, Bobby Murphy of Gainesville; niece, Becky Grant of Gainesville; nephew and wife, Stan Murphy (Tracy); great nephew, Cody Murphy, great nephew and wife, Scott Grant (Lisa); niece and husband, Amy Durrence (Chris); great-great nieces and nephews, Sarah Durrence, Grant Durrence, Anna Grant, Rebecca Grant, Samuel Grant.
