Mary Jo Gray

Obituary Date: Friday, March 10, 2017

Martha Jo Gray, age 59, of Falls Road, Toccoa, Ga., passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, Ga.

A daughter of the late Charles and Sallie Mae Sewell Hayes, she was born on February 25, 1958 in Stephens County, Ga. where she lived all of her life.  She was employed with Avita for eighteen years where she worked as a personal caregiver.  She was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in Toccoa.  Mrs. Gray prepared and sold her famous chili dogs in the community for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Bubba Hayes and by a sister, Sallie Elizabeth Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, George Gray of the home, two sons, Josh Hayes and Atari Hayes both of Toccoa, three grandchildren, Rehonna Hayes, Isac Hayes, and Ivory Hayes, step-daughter, Faith Heard of Anderson, S.C., four sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita and James Rivers of Lavonia, Ga., Trenace and Roy Richie of Toccoa, and Christine Brown and Charlene Hayes both of Toccoa, a brother, Herman Hayes of Atlanta, Ga., brother-in-law, Eugene Taylor of Toccoa, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 11:00 A.M., at The Toccoa City Cemetery. 

The family will be at the home on Falls Road, Toccoa, and will receive friends at The Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 6 until 8 P.M. on Tuesday evening.  

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Kingdom Hall.  Details for this service will be announced.
