Florence Lorraine Ala

Florence Lorraine Ala, beloved wife and mother, passed away at her home on February 9, 2017.  She was born September 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry and Hulda Krueger.  The youngest of 9 children, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Henry (Florence) Krueger, Elmer Krueger, Harold (Virginia) Krueger, Irvin (Elizabeth) Krueger, Wilber (Rose) Krueger; Sisters: Evelyn (Jack) Vollenbroek; Leona (Gardner) Stewart. Brother-in-law: Charles Farrar.

She is survived by her dearest husband Jim Ala of Cumming, Georgia.  The two shared a devoted love of 63 years and you rarely saw one without the other.  Children: Debbie (Billy) Upchurch of Cumming, GA, Sandy Eckhart of Atlanta, GA, Jim (Janet) Ala of Lilburn, GA, Mark (Mary) Ala of Tucker, GA and Bruce (Cindy) Ala of Doraville, GA.  She has 9 grandchildren: Kris (Jayson) Stephens of Atlanta, GA, James Wheeler of Ellenwood, GA, Katie (Shawn) Childress of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey Eckhart of Tucker, GA, Britt (Lindsey) Upchurch of Woodstock, GA, Heather (Eric) Larson of Dunwoody, GA, Bryan Upchurch of Dahlonega, GA, Holly (Marcus) Ala of Sugar Hill, GA, Mark (Kristen) Ala of Lawrenceville, GA. Great-Grandchildren: Angelina and Annabelle Stephens, Charlie, Cooper and Arlene Upchurch, Ryder and Micah Larson, Jordan, Haidyn and Skylar Ala-Jackson, Sadie and Easton Ala. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Farrar of Chicago, IL, son-in-law Bob Eckhart of Tucker, Georgia and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Florence, more commonly known as Granny or GG, loved family gatherings at her home and being with her children and grandchildren.  Originally from Chicago, Florence lived in Georgia most of her life.  She enjoyed knitting, going to church, going to the beach and always looked forward to the Yellow Daisy Festival. In her retirement she enjoyed doting over her cat, Leona.  Granny was a great cook and all enjoyed her spaghetti dinners.  She lived a full and wonderful life alongside her soul mate.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 10:00 am Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming, GA followed by a graveside gathering at 12:30 pm at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday, February 13^th from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
