James Robert Payne

Mr. James Robert Payne age 67 of 4810 Prather Bridge Road Toccoa, passed away November 17, 2016 from injuries sustained in a car accident near his home.
 
A son of the late Dempsey and Loyce Hallford Payne, he was born on December 17, 1948 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived the greater portion of his life. A veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Lowe’s in Cornelia.  A member of Shiloh Baptist Church and active in many church functions.  He was a founder and volunteer of Shiloh Fire Department and a diver for the Stephens County Rescue Unit. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Noah and Mary Etta Payne.
 
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Wanda P. Payne of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Mandi and Marty Allen of Atlanta, Georgia, a son and daughter-in-law Dale and Natalie Payne of Toccoa, Georgia, three grandchildren Carter Allen, Sydney Payne, Taylor Payne, a sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Ronnie Yearwood of Toccoa, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chris and Pam Payne of Toccoa and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Reverend Craig Brown and the Reverend David Shelton officiating. The family will be at the home of his son Dale Payne on Travelers Point and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 P.M. til 5 P.M. and on Monday from noon until service time.
 
Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Alton Burrell officiating and military honors by the United State Navy and the VFW Post #4346.
 
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Henry Moore, Daniel Shelton, Randy Adams, Billy Hallford, Freddie Robinson, and Jack Hallford. Honorary pallbearer will be Bruce Cleveland.
