Mrs. Bertie Mae Thurmond Ivester Thomas, age 87 of Toccoa passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the home of her son.
A daughter of the late Rev. Hubert Thurmond, Sr. and Ella Mae Carlan Thurmond, she was born April 12, 1929 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County. She was retired from Coats and Clark with 33 years of service and was a member of Old Toccoa Baptist Church. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Namon Ivester, her second husband, Everage Thomas, son, Troy Ivester, daughter, Linda Ivester Savage and great-grandson, Johnathan Ivester.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Ivester and Lois Carter and Carroll and Diane Ivester both of Toccoa; granddaughter and great-grandson reared in the home, Dena Savage and Keaton Savage; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 8, 2016, 11 O’clock AM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Elrod officiating. The follow gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Keaton Savage, Buzzy Ivester, Chris Bubba Ivester, Tyler Owenby, Joshua Bentley and Dennis Bentley.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 PM until 8 PM. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Bertie Ivester Thomas.
