Herbert Glenn Odom, age 88, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, GA.
Glenn was born on March 9, 1928 in Dahlonega, GA. He grew up in Dawson County and lived there for many years before moving to Gwinnett County, where he lived for the next 35 years. He was a machinist by trade and retired from St. Regis Paper Company. For the past several years, he has lived in Dahlonega.
Glenn was the son of the late Ed and Bertie Davis Odom and was also preceded in death by his wife Mamie Odom; a daughter, Janet Tippins; siblings, Edgar Odom, George Odom, Homer Odom, Albert Odom, Harold Odom, Ailene Thurmond, Azzie Lee Smith, and Margaret Ellington.
He is survived by children, Gene and Cheryl Odom, Dahlonega, GA, Joyce and Larry Banister, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Tonya Eberhart , Michael Odom, Tina Walden, Rhonda Hayes, April Brooks, Tim Banister, Alisa Cain and Larry Ford Banister II; and sister, Ethel Odom. Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Glenn are scheduled for 1 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Russell Burt will officiate.
Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming, GA.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Monday, July 4, 2016 from 5 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday until service time.
