Marion Purcell Anderson

Mrs. Marion Purcell Anderson, age 94 of Isbell Street, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Willow Gardens Personal Care Home.

A daughter of the late Homer A. and Maude Whitfield Purcell, she was born July 22, 1921 in Canon, Georgia having lived most of her life in Toccoa.  She owned and operated Marion’s Beauty Shop in Toccoa for some 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Currahee Squares.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Anderson in 2001 and by five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne and Stephen Gower of Toccoa and Carole and John Murray of Clarkesville; grandchildren, John Michael Murray, Brian and Jill Murray and Paul and Shirin Dukes; great-grandchildren, Ella Murray, Maeve Murray, Charlie Murray, Elsa Dukes and Lenore Dukes.

Graveside services will be Friday March 11, 2016, 11:30 AM at Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Stephen Gower officiating.

The family will be at the home of Lynne and Stephen Gower, 80 Walton Creek, Tococa and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 10 AM until 11 AM. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Brian Murray, Greg Savage, Daniel Penney, Aaron Plaisted, Larry Poole and John Murray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 333 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mrs. Marion Purcell Anderson.

Entombment will follow in Stephens Memorial Mausoleum with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Marion Purcell Anderson.
