Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 18, 2015 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Retha Dover Thomas Jones, age 92, of Gainesville. The Rev. John Kinsey and Rev. Richard Merck will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones passed away Monday November 16, 2015.
Mrs. Jones was born March 16, 1923 to the late Boyd Judson Dover and Mae Conner Dover of the Sardis community in Hall County. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and an active member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church where she served on several committees. After graduating from Riverbend High School and Greenleaf School of Business she married Walter Thomas and went to work for the government as a clerk-typist. After 5 years of marriage to Walter she married Willard Jones and moved to Michigan for 10 years. She worked for the Ford Motor Company and moved back to Georgia to take care of her mother and father. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edgle Miller, brother, Houston Dover, and husbands, Walter Thomas and Willard Jones.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Jeanette Thomas, daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Thomas Dalton and Larry Dalton, grandchildren, John Thomas and Greg, Renee and Angela Dalton, great grandchildren, Austin and Adam Thomas, sister, Lenez Penaflor, aunt, Claudie Dover and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
