Tyler Andrew Woody

Obituary Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Tyler Andrew Woody, Sgt., U.S. Army National Guard, age 21, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

Tyler was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was a 2012 graduate of Lumpkin County High School and was currently a sophomore student at University of North Georgia.  First and foremost, Tyler had a great love for his Mama, Daddy, brother, and sisters.  Tyler loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing and working on his jeep.  Tyler always had a smile for anyone and a helping hand.  He was a great big brother that Allison, Kristen, and Logan always knew they could look up to.  He was not only a hero to his country; he was a hero to his siblings and cousins.  Anything anyone needed, Tyler would reply, “Just call me.”  He enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard when he was 17 years old. He served as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan as a construction Engineer and received numerous decorations.  He was an active member of the Georgia Army National Guard and was recently promoted to Sargent.  Words alone cannot express the impact that he had on anyone he came into contact with.  Tyler was a truly great man that will be dearly missed.

Tyler is survived by parents, Karen and Gordon Woody, Dahlonega, GA; siblings, Allison, Kristen, and Logan Woody; grandparents, Lee Chester, Dahlonega, GA, Janis Anthony, Jasper, GA, Dru and Goldin Woody. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends also survive.
