Michael Cameron Morters, age 68, of Gainesville, Georgia, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Friendship Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Cleveland, Georgia, following a long and valiant battle against Parkinson's Disease.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2015, at 2pm in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Georgia.  The Reverend Dr. Bill Coates will officiate.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Doreen Morters; his son and daughter in law, Andrew and Brooke Morters; his grandchildren Sarah, Gavin, and Cooper Morters all of Gainesville, Georgia.  Also his brother in law and wife, Keith and Pat Fairhurst and family of Gainesville, Georgia; as well as two brothers, Brian and Terrence Morters and families all of Wigan, England; and sister in law Carol Walker and family also of Wigan, England.
Son of Joe and Kathleen Morters, Mike was born in Pemberton Wigan, England on January 2, 1947.  He married the love of his life, Doreen, on March 5, 1966 at St. Judes Catholic Church in Worsly Mesnes Wigan, England.  Their son Andrew was born on September 8, 1966.  Soon after, they departed from England and set out for new adventures in Johannesburg, South Africa.  There Mike found work as a skilled mechanic and loved repairing and racing hydroplanes in his spare time.  After six and a half years they departed South Africa for more adventures in the United States settling in Gainesville, Georgia, where Mike began working with Milton Martin Toyota when they were still located on the square.  About two years later, Mike took flight and opened Cameron Cars off of Dawsonville Highway specializing in the servicing of exotic cars.  After eight years Mike then pursued a career with his wife Doreen as Co-Owner and chief baker of The Cookie Shoppe Bakery where they made homemade cakes for many special events for over 17 years.
Mike was kind hearted and a constant comedian.  He was skilled in just about everything including mechanics, gardening, and remodeling.  He loved his friends and his family dearly and really never met a stranger.  You can learn more about Mike and some of his most crazy adventures by reading his book, Pie, Chips, and Peas, Please.
