Martha Welborn Taylor

Obituary Date: Saturday, October 10, 2015

 

Martha Welborn Taylor, 82, of Mountain City, passed away October 10th after a brief illness.

Born January 7th 1933 to Bowden and Marie Coffee Welborn in the Germany Mountain community of Rabun County, she was the youngest of six children. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bonnie W. Golden and Lula Mae Canup, and an infant brother, J.B. Welborn.

She is survived by a son, Gary T. Taylor and wife, Lisa, of Clayton, GA. One grandson, Dallas Taylor and wife, Stefanie, of Tiger, GA., One great-grandchild, Stori Grace Taylor and two sisters, Ruth W. Smith of Clarkesville, GA and Ethel W. Cantrell of Clayton, GA., and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who were all very close to her throughout her life.   

As a life-long resident of Rabun County, Martha was active in the business community for many years, owning and operating Clayton Insurance Agency from 1965 until the late 1980s. She was a dedicated member of Wiley Church of God and loved her “church family” very much. A devoted sister, mother, grandmother and aunt, Martha’s family was what she was proudest of. And in November 2014 she welcomed her first great-grand child, Stori Grace, whom she spoke of constantly.   

The family will receive friends Monday October 12, 2015 at Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

There will be a funeral service Tuesday October 13, 2015 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Adam Wright officiating music will be by Ryan Wilson. The Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.

Memorial donation may be made to Wiley Church of God in her memory at 28 Transom Lane, Wiley, GA 30581.
