Willie Nell Lipscomb

On the evening of April 15, 2015 at 5:47 pm. God and his infinite wisdom put to rest the life of Willie Nell Lipscomb. Affectionately known as Nell, she was born on March 28, 1922 in Gillsville, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mack and bell Bell Hendrix.

Nell was their youngest daughter of nine children, of which all eight preceded her in death. She received all of her educating within Gainesville, Ga school systems. Nell married her childhood sweetheart the late Leonard Douglas Lipscomb. During their blessed union, they became proud parents to a son, the late Leonard Douglas Jr. Later the couple moved to Philadelphia, PA where she became employed by John Wanamaker (known now as Macy’s) for over twenty years before finally retired. Nell continued her faith within the Methodist church, sometime after their arrival to Philadelphia they were blessed with their daughter Betty.

A visionary as she was, she accomplished much and influenced many throughout the duration of her lifetime. She was a very funny person, but would lay you out in a heartbeat. I would repeat what she would say, but the bleeps would be too long.

She leaves to cherish her daughter Betty Lupton her grandchildren Gary and Derrick Lupton, Carol Mcintosh, Leonard III and Delphine Lipscomb; Michael and Nikia Lipscomb, Yvette and John Rocco, and Michele and Stephon Long. Her great grandchildren Domalinda, and Deshan Lupton; Tiffany, Latasha, and Leonard IV Lipscomb; Aaron Lipscomb; Michael Jr. Candice, Maranda, and Makayla Lipscomb. As well as two great-great grandchild Jordyn and Ronnie Montgomery and a host of family and friends Compliments of Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
