James Patterson

Obituary Date: Thursday, April 16, 2015

James Patterson, age 74, of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat Patterson, daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Rick Bennett, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Holly Patterson, five grandchildren, Callie and Ashleigh Bennett, Kayla Wood, and Stone and Tori Patterson, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Arvetta and Don Kroener, Mildred and Farrell Wilson, and Belinda and Herbert Kitchen, three sisters-in-law, Betty, Thelma, and Patricia A. Patterson, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Emma Patterson, four brothers, Bill, Clarence, Marshall, and Ralph Patterson, and sister-in-law, Jan Patterson.

 

Jim is a Vietnam Veteran who served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for seven and a half years before embarking on his 29 year career with BellSouth.  As an avid softball player, Jim was nicknamed "Dirt" by his teammates and was inducted into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2007.

 

The end of a life well-lived will be remembered on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory.  A private ceremony will be held at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a veterans organization of your choice.
