Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Mrs. Barbara Ellis Jenkins, age 72, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 after an unyielding battle with leukemia.

She was born in Gainesville, GA, spent most of her childhood in New Port Richey, FL, and then traveled with her husband during his military career to return to Lumpkin County in 1973. She worked for Chestatee Regional Hospital as the Central Sterilizing Supervisor for 29 years and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lumpkin County. She was known for her deep love of the Lord and her family.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Homer Lee "Dag" and Aderbell Ellis, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Gaddis.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William D. "Billy" Jenkins, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Tony Grainger, Pam and Eddie Littlejohn; sister, Emogene Grainger; all of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Ashley and Allan Gutierrez, Stephanie Littlejohn, Brad Grainger and Becky Hunt; great grandchildren, Brody Tanner and Marcus Gutierrez; special nephew, Lee Gaddis; and special great niece, Malia Gaddis. A number of other relatives also survive.

As per Barbara's wishes, she did not want to be mourned, so a Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2PM Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. David Bost will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Paul UMC Building Fund, 14 Martins Ford Rd. Dahlonega, GA 30533, Attn: Jan Graham.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Northside Atlanta, and to the wonderful staff of the ICU, 1-West and Hospice of NEGMC.
