Frederick (Fred) Byron Dyer

Frederick "Fred" Byron Dyer, age 79, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Friday, February 13, 2015.

He was born and raised in Bulloch County, graduated from GA Tech where he also retired from after 40 years of service in radar research, and spent the past 17 years in Lumpkin County. He was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church.

Fred was the son of the late Byron and Martha Evans Dyer.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Dyer, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Byron and Kim Dyer, Navarre, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Marie and Walter Miller, Seattle, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and J.R. Cox, St. Petersburg, FL; and granddaughters, Katherine Dyer and Kristin Dyer.

Funeral services for Fred are scheduled for 6 PM Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Robert "Buddy" Norton will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 4 PM until the time of service on Sunday, February 15, 2015.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery in Athens, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution be made to the Dahlonega Care Center or the Community Helping Place in Lumpkin County.
