Joey David Rider

Joey David Rider, 52, of Gainesville passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Scott McQueen and Dawn McQueen will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Rider was born on February 25, 1962 in Gainesville to Johnny Rider and late Brenda Thomas Hodge. He was a masonry worker and was of Baptist faith. He graduated from Gainesville High School and was still a huge supporter of his school after graduation. He loved sports but softball was very well known. He was preceded in death by his mother; step-dad, Walden Hodge; grandfather, Dan Rider; grandmother, Bertha Pierce.


Mr. Rider is survived by his father, Johnny Rider; grandparents, Roberts and Ruby Murphy; sons, Jonathan Rider of Valdosta, GA, Nathaniel Rider of Flowery Branch, GA, Jeffery Rider; sisters, Denise Brackett, Lisa Bradley; brothers, Chris, Rodney, Bradley Rider; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
