Doris S. Roper

Obituary Date: Thursday, January 1, 2015
On April 8, 1932, God sent a sweet angel named Doris and called her back to Heaven, on January 1, 2015.

Doris Roper always shared her faith, love and giving spirit through her church and her community service through Lions Club, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Voter Registration, and many others. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, the Joy US Kings Sunday School class and mission groups.

Doris was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a shining example, who lead through her Christian faith. As a wonderful role model, she taught her family and others unconditional love, patience, compassion and wittiness. She also embraced her family with support and a positive attitude.

Doris Roper was the daughter of George and Lila Stonecypher and preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ottis and H.L. Stonecypher. Doris is survived by her husband of 64 years, Byard Roper, Jr., and her children Brenda and Bruce Nicholson, Barry and Angie Roper and Debi and Dwight Minyard. Grandchildren, Matt and Kristy Nicholson, Ben and Darby Nicholson, Corey and Haley Cantrell and Shawn Minyard, great grandchildren, Layla, Noah, Luke, Noelle, Hannah, Addie, Jackson, Ryder, Zachary and Dylan. She is also survived by a loving sister, Dorothy Holbrook, numerous nieces, nephews and an unlimited number of friends that enriched her life.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Celebration of Life services will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM with interment following the service in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Her family will miss her deeply, but will carry on her beautiful legacy.
