​Sara Annie Martin

The Lord called Sara Annie Thompson Martin, age 73, of Gainesville, Ga., to be home with Him on the night of New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31, 2014.

She passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy battle with many serious illnesses.

Born in Gainesville on June 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Lorene Marlow Thompson.

A devoted homemaker and loving mother, Sara loved to cook and sew. She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville and a life-long resident of Hall County, where many generations of her family had also lived.

Sara is survived by her husband, Earnest W. Martin, and her daughter, Debbie Rana Martin, both of Gainesville. Other extended family members also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents David and India Loggins Thompson, and William T. and Emma Pilgrim Marlow.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. John Kinsey will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Gainesville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
