Joseph Baker Kirkpatrick

Obituary Date: Friday, December 19, 2014
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Joseph Baker Kirkpatrick passed away at age 95 on December 19, 2015.



He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie Louise Buchanan Kirkpatrick and daughter, Linda Jo Kirkpatrick Rakestraw.



He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Mary Beth Kirkpatrick of Gainesville and sister, Joyce Betenbaugh of Austell along with six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.



The son of Joseph and Lillian (Malone) Kirkpatrick, he grew up in the Atlanta area and joined the Navy in 1941 where he served in combat in the South Pacific theatre. Upon returning to Atlanta, he enjoyed a successful accounting practice in Roswell before retiring to Douglasville, Georgia. A devout and faithful Christian, Joseph was a long time member of the Bright Star Methodist Church in Douglasville where he served in many capacities. He was a Master Mason for 65 years and advanced to the degrees of Chapter, Council, Commandry and Shrine. Joseph later moved to Gainesville where he enjoyed the friendship of many at his residence at Smokey Springs. He was an avid golfer and Georgia Tech fan.



The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Sunday, December 21st from 3:00
