Doris Jeanne Darnell Kerley

Doris Jeanne Darnell Kerley, age 88, of Alto, passed away on December 16, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born on December 12, 1926, in Hall County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence H. and Floranell Stephens Darnell. Mrs. Kerley was a former employee with Guilford Mills, where she had many dear friends. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, reading and her pets.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Royd Steve Kerley, Jr., who was killed in combat in the Vietnam War; sister-in-law, Betty Darnell.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael Vincent & Suzanne Ishee Kerley of Vernon, New Jersey, Christopher Loyd Kerley of Hickory, North Carolina, and Dr. Gary Lee & Patricia Kerley of Gainesville; brother, Lawson "Pete" Darnell of Honolulu, Hawaii; two grandchildren, Jean Rives and Brooks Leonard of South Orange, New Jersey and Jessica Kerley of Syracuse, New York; two step-grandchildren, Patricia Schmidt of Galion, Ohio and James B. French, Jr. of Whitefish, Montana; two great grandchildren, Henry and Charles Leonard.
The family, for Doris and themselves, thank her beloved friends and neighbors for their immeasurable kindnesses to her.
Funeral services are 4:00 pm Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Billy Emmett officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Kerley requested that donations be made to Eagle Ranch, PO Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502 or to Hall County Humane Society, HNSEGA, Tribute Gifts, 845 West Ridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30501.
