Doris S. Mallard

Doris S. Mallard, age 75, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014.

Mrs. Mallard was born on May 5, 1939 in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Jesse Brown and Amy Horne Sanders. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, and had served as a volunteer with Sharing and Caring in Clarkesville. She held a Master of Arts degree in marriage and family counseling from Azusa Pacific College, Anaheim, CA, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University, Deland, FL. She had served as a teacher, both in the public school system and the United States Army education program. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 53 years, the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Mallard, of Clarkesville, GA, and was a true supporter during her husband's 30-year Army career. She is preceded in death by her parents and the younger of two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl M. Witt.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Rebecca M. Huntley, Clarkesville, GA; sons, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Lee Mallard, Keller, TX, Chaplain (Colonel) Timothy S. Mallard, Ft. Gordon, GA; sister, Diana PaLuy, Somerset, KY; grandchildren, Davis Witt, Jessie Witt, Rebekah Witt, William Thomas Mallard, Anna Catherine Mallard, Caroline Grace Mallard, Kristin Huntley, and Brittany Mallard.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church with Bishop Chandler H. Jones officiating. All family and friends should meet at the church by 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.
