Joe Sims

Joe Sims, 81, of Gainesville passed away on December 2, 2014 at New Horizons Lanier Park following an extended illness.


Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Bradley Elliott will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Sims was born on October 14, 1933 in Gillsville to the late Jasper C. and Florence Sheridan Sims. He was a retired salesman from Fleming Food Service and was a member of Air Line Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bonnie Sue and Jocie Sims, Ruth Sims Baker.

Mr. Sims is survived by his wife of 62 years, Syble Bond Sims of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Kerry Thomas of Gainesville, Gayle and Bob Smith of Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Cheshire Adams and Josh Welch of Hoschton, GA; granddaughter, Ashley Meeks of Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Bethany and Bob Herron of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Mikayla, Carter, Gage, Jake and Autumn.
