Johnny R. LaCount, Sr.

Johnny R. LaCount, Sr., age 87, of Clarkesville, went to heaven to be with his Saviour and his beloved wife on Friday, November 28, 2014.

Born on August 12, 1927, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Lester and Callie Loudermilk LaCount. Mr. LaCount was a retired insurance salesman with Liberty National Insurance Company. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the U.S. Constabulary. He was a lifetime member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, a 50 year member of Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F&AM and a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who was well known and well loved.

In addition to his parents, Mr. LaCount was also preceded in death by his wife, Dona Garrison LaCount; brothers, Robert, Arthur, Carl, George and Joe LaCount; sisters, Ruth Dyer, Lizzie Mae Whitworth, Mary Lee Robertson, Valree Ivie, Jewell LaCount and Vera King; grandson, Shane LaCount.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Debra LaCount of Toccoa and Bill and Donna LaCount of Dahlonega; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Todd Wiley of Cleveland and Caroline and Ron Godzisz of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Laura Welborn, Eric Welborn, Beth Miller, Taryn LaCount, Donna Godzisz, David Godzisz, Kristin LaCount, Brooke Stowe, Misty McFarlin, Whitney Powell and Josh Harris; numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Level Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Brian James and Rev. David Godzisz officiating. Interment will follow in the VFW Cemetery with Rev. Mike Franklin officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, 423 VFW Post Road, Cornelia, Georgia 30531.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Bell Minor for their care of Mr. LaCount during his extended illness.
