Jacqueline H. Parks

Jacqueline (Jackie) H. Parks of Buford, GA passed away September 20, 2014 after a long and courageous fight with breast and bone cancer. Her strength and courage during this battle serve as inspirational examples for us all.

Jackie was born to the late LTC Chester J. Hewitt and the late Florence H. Hewitt in Margate, NJ on October 24, 1935. Jackie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry M. Parks Sr of Buford, GA. Other survivors include a son, Jerry M. Parks Jr and wife, Janice (Ginn) Parks of Lexington, SC; Daughter, Janet Parks (Special Friend Blayne Shepherd) of Sugar Hill, GA; One granddaughter Nichole Kilgore and husband, Daniel Kilgore of Suwannee; and two grandsons, John Parks and James Parks of Lexington, SC.; brothers, LTC (USA-Retired) William Hewitt (wife Peggy Hewitt) of Roswell, GA and Chester Hewitt (wife Leann) of San Antonio, TX, Jackie was predeceased by her brother, James Hewitt of Philadelphia, PA.

Jackie lived in many states, Korea, and Puerto Rico while her father was serving in the United States Army. She also lived in France and Germany while her husband was serving in the United States Army. Jackie was a devoted wife, taking care of her family while her husband served in two tours in Vietnam and also a tour in West Berlin. Jackie was a volunteer with many activities while in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, such as the Red Cross, Officers' Wives Club thrift shop, and a teacher's aide. After Jerry's retirement in 1974, Jackie became a Real Estate Agent/Associate Broker with Century 21, ERA, Keller Williams, and later at Palmer House in North Fulton County and Gwinnett County.

Jackie continued her volunteer work with the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary in Fulton County. Her particular efforts were with providing monthly birthday parties for children at the Red Shield House in Atlanta. She was also a regular bell-ringer for the Salvation Army as well as an active member of the Rest Haven Baptist Church, Buford, GA.
Her life was filled with compassion, generosity and selflessness
