Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Brenda Jane Clark, age 75 of Sautee Nacoochee. Brenda passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She and her husband, Norwood lived in Sautee Nacoochee, GA, for the last 15 years. They were married for 54 years. She was born in Tuscumbia, Missouri on April 20, 1939. Brenda had resided in Atlanta, Chicago and several other cities before moving to White County in 1994. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Snelling Dickerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Randall Clark and her one sister, Judy Dickerson Young .
Brenda graduated with honors and received her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education as well as in Vocal Music Education grades 1-8. She was an educator for the DeKalb County School System for 25 plus years. She was her husband were members of Bethel Baptist Church for over 15 years and were involved in many church activities. She had a vital ministry to the young within the church, and to her piano and guitar students from area churches.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Norwood Clark, daughter, Carolee Whitesides and her two sons, Jerry Clark and wife Tammy, and John Clark. Additionally, she is survived by her three grandchildren John Clark, Kelly Jo Clark and Jared Clark as well as a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Shannon Rhodes and Rev. Patrick Ballington officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 2 to 4 pm and again from 6 to 8pm.
