Violet Suggs Autry

Mrs. Violet Suggs Autry, age 87, of Gainesville, passed away May 4, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Autry was born November 24, 1926 in Gainesville, GA. Ms. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest M. Autry; her parents, Floyd J. and Cora Belle Suggs; brothers, Jim, Clarence, and Bud; sisters, Edna Suggs and Sara Poole; and her son, Mert Autry.

Survivors include sons, Eddie Autry (Brenda K.); J.D. Autry (Brenda); and daughter, Sylvia Weaver (Mark); brothers, Larry and Roger Suggs; and sister, Joann Honeycutt; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, special people in her life Sara Poole, Mikayla Mathis, Jada and Jazzmyn Autry.

She was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church. In her day-to-day walk with God, she loved and was loved by everyone. Her faith and testimony of Jesus Christ were strengthened by her love of gospel music.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Halcyon Hospice.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, May 5, 2014 between 2:00- 4:00 p.m. and 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Home.
