Phyllis 'Gail' Dyer Baugh

Obituary Date: Friday, May 2, 2014

Phyllis "Gail" Dyer Baugh, age 68 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center with her daughter, Kendra at her side. She had fought a long, but courageous battle with cancer for the past three years.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 4:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Terry Crawford and Reverend Ricky Thrasher will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 3 - 5 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Gail was born in New Holland Village on March 5, 1946 to the late Charlie and Edith England Dyer. She loved growing up in New Holland and told Kendra many stories about her childhood in that tight knit community.

Gail was a loving and loyal daughter, mother and friend to many. She was a member of the New Holland Baptist Church, where she was baptized as a child. She loved to crochet and was most fond of making baby blankets, caps and booties. After she became ill, and was not able to get outside much, she enjoyed watching the birds and deer. She was always particularly amused by the chipmunk who lived outside in our flower bed. She had a huge, loving heart for both her family and friends.

Gail spent most of her time with her daughter, Kendra. She was always supportive and would be Kendra's biggest fan and ally in any given situation. She accompanied Kendra to sporting events during her school years, then to bowling tournaments as an adult. They were closer than mother and daughter, they were also best friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edith Dyer, son-in-law, Tim Childers, former husband and Kendra's father, Robert Baugh.

She is survived by her daughter, Kendra Baugh Childers, aunt, Joan Haralson (Tony); aunt, Ardella England, aunt, Evelyn Dyer, lifelong friend, Elaine Aiken Reagan (Don); special nephew, Chuck Baugh (Kathy) & their children, Katie and Kyle and a number of cousins, friends and other relatives.

Kendra would like to thank the following people on behalf of herself and her mother: Pastor Terry Crawford and the Deacons of the New Holland Baptist Church, Our Church family at New Holland Baptist Church, Pastor Ricky Thrasher, all the area churches who have been praying for us during my mother's illness, Dr. Taylor Henson for his help and concern, Dr. Andre Kallab, Mark Clark and the chemo nurses at the Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic, Dr. Sohail Saleem and staff at the Kidney Care Center of Georgia, Dr. James Leigh for being so kind and having such a positive outlook for my mom, the nurses and staff of 5 East at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Hospice of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Vic Wilson for his special gift, Kathy Baugh for her endless and selfless help, love, support and care-giving, Elaine Reagan for always being there for my mom and me, Pastor Mark Russell and Michelle England Thrasher for gift of song.
