Carl Newton Rogers

Obituary Date: Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Carl Newton Rogers, 95, of Dillard, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He was born June 8, 1918 in Macon County, NC and was the son of the late William Thomas Rogers and Marinda McCall Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Littleton Rogers in 2013; his six brothers, Louie Rogers, Albie Rogers, Roy Rogers, Hayes Rogers, Norman Rogers, and Truman Rogers; and one sister, Frances McBride.

Carl is survived by his son, Pat Rogers of Dillard, GA; grandchildren, Jason Rogers and his wife Elizabeth of Mt. Vernon, WA; and six great-grandchildren, Carolyn Rogers, Carl Rogers, Annie Rogers, Oliver Rogers, Benjamin Rogers, and Betty Kate Rogers. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Carl was a veteran of WWII having served with the 724th Railway Operating Battalion in France, Belgium and Germany. He worked for TF Railway as a Depot Agent for many years until the Railway closed down. He remained the REA Express Agent in Clayton and purchased the property along the railway right-of-way and became an Allstate Insurance Agent. Along with his wife they operated the Trailways Bus Station.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home from 11 AM to 1 PM, Friday, April 11, 2014. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 PM in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jack Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery.
