Ida Lois Cragg

Ida Lois Cragg, age 87, Cornelia, Georgia, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.


Mrs. Cragg was born on December 26, 1926, in Dawson County, Georgia, to the late Raymond and Leila Russell. She was the oldest of three children. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Josh Cragg; sister, Evelyn Russell; brother, Harold Russell; infant grandson, Isaac Pitts. Mrs. Cragg spent much of her young life with her aunt and uncle, Frances and Garland Canup. She married Josh Cragg in March of 1949 and worked as a home maker for her husband and four children. She worked hard in the garden and always had wonderful meals prepared for the family. Mrs. Cragg loved to plant flowers and also loved to have red geraniums hanging in the baskets on the front porch. She made sure there was clothing for her children, often making items herself. Mrs. Cragg was a member of Enon Baptist Church and helped the church in any way she could.




Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Carolyn and Larry Palmer, Demorest, Evelyn and Raymond Payne, Cornelia, Ann and Tom Jones, Alto; son and daughter in law, Paul and Loretta Cragg, Lula; granddaughters, Angela Palmer Lee, Kayla Cragg Fouts, Elizabeth Pitts Hannas; grandsons, Andrew Palmer, Chad Payne, Kent Payne, Tommy Cragg, Adam Cragg; great-grandchildren, Tristen Payne, Savannah Payne, Austin Payne, Colton Shadburn, Melanie Bustos, Luke Hannas, Amos Lee, Cameron Fouts.




Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Enon Baptist Church, Alto, Georgia with Rev. Lloyd Martin and Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Josh Herrington officiating.




The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014. The family is at the residence of Evelyn and Raymond Payne, Cornelia




In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Affinis Hospice, LLC, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30510. Both Josh and Lois received excellent care by this Hospice group, with special care from Wendy Jennings.
